Build update: a high school math lesson throwback.

Dad and I staked out the house corners and checked our lines and right angles … man, was that a flashback to both high school geometry at the kitchen table and also standing by with tools and “helping.” I think I figured it out by the end, though, and our lines were much straighter than Keith and I’s earlier attempt.

Double checking that our stakes are in line.

Two hours later and we are staked. We will put up string later and then mark out about three feet from that with spray paint for excavation. The goal is to overdig and then backfill later.

We shifted the placement of the house a little bit to allow more space in front of the garage for parking. Keith and I staked it out a few weeks ago and weren’t too stoked about the lack of space, so rather than add a bunch of backfill to our adjacent slope, we can “just” peel back the hill north of the house a bit.
