We will be using insulated concrete forms – or ICFs – to construct the exterior of our house.
ICFs are essentially hollow foam blocks (reinforced with some rebar) that are filled with concrete. There is foam on both sides, which allows us to use regular siding and drywall – meaning our house will be made of concrete, but will look like a normal house.

ICFs have great insulation, which was a major selling point for us. The cherry on top for us was the cost and the quickness they can be assembled versus a stick frame.

We are getting our ICFs from a local ICF company, who will also be contracting to help us put them together and run the project. They estimate we will be able to get our forms up and trusses on in a few weeks.
Our ICFs are already arriving on our property and the process will begin Monday.
