After a series of delays, we have subfloors. It’s surreal to walk on them and imagine the walls and rooms of our home. We hired a subcontractor to do this piece of the pie, so not much to report here. We did find out that the other company will refund us for the joists that didn’t fit, so that was a $5k breath of relief.

I spent hours sealing the subfloor with waterproof gunk and a 9-inch roller, and let me tell you, it was pretty much the equivalent of mopping with a tiny, inefficient sponge; our house sure felt bigger than it looks to me! We have some precipitation in the forecast for next week, and we wanted to make sure the exposed OSB was ready to withstand it. This will also be nice for wet shoes walking on it during framing and other interior work.

On Friday, Keith spent the day on the tractor while truckloads of pit run were brought in. We are mostly finished with the driveway now; we’re deciding if we will make a bunch of little trips ourselves with my dad’s dump trailer (holds six ton) or hire a dump truck driver for the last few loads (holds 26,000 ton). Regardless, the road that’s done so far looks and drives great for the most part; Keith still has a few little spots to patch up and flatten. It’s a relief with rain coming next week!

Keith has to fly to California for drill, so we will be in a bit of limbo for the next week or so. My dad gets back the same time he does, and hopefully we (aka they) can hit the ground running. Our ICF subcontractor says he can get the exterior walls up by then, weather permitting. Our truss company said they will be on track to finish and deliver our trusses the second week of November. Our biggest goal is to get dried in ASAP with winter coming.
