So, we got approved, signed a lease on an apartment and have moved in. All in all, it took four days…so much for “casually” looking at options.
When we were looking at options, I found a less expensive one in a central location and sent it to Keith because I’d lived there in college. Aaaand that’s the one we got!

Keith said he felt like an 18-year-old (in mind, not body) about to move out of his parents’ house. Same. And then I realized — that WAS my first apartment. Literally the last time I moved to that apartment complex was when I was 18 and moving out. It’s been 13 years, but literally nothing has changed; except the flooring and countertops.
Isn’t is crazy how things come full circle sometimes?
In other news, our MVP/general contractor (my dad) — who literally just got back — was contacted on Thursday by his employer in California, who said they need him back ASAP. As in, he left yesterday.

His real day job is as a nuclear technician contractor. My extremely rudimentary and basic understanding of this position is that he makes sure the nuclear plant/reactors/rods (???? I think???) are safe. He has explained this many times to me, but forgets this apple fell very, very far from the tree.
Anyway, he’s kind of the brains behind this build and we were very happy to have him back … and sad to see him leave again. He should be back mid-December.

Keith has to install drain pipes before we can backfill, so that’s on his list next week. Once we backfill, our subcontractor can resume our exterior walls. Our trusses are finished and our windows have arrived at the local warehouse, so we are ready to go once we get over a few bumps.
Keith’s dad is scheduled to come help in the beginning of December, so we’re really hoping to be at a point where we have something to work on!
