Well, mostly a shell. And by shell, I mean the exterior walls are stacked (minus the garage) and not yet poured. So…80% of a shell?

Our ICF subcontractor’s goal is to have it ready to be poured next week. To make that happen, he’ll need to finish the garage blocks, we’ll get our inspector out to check the walls and then it’s pour time.
It’s been really neat to see not only our walls go up, but our window cutouts, too. I’m glad I trusted Keith to make the judgement calls on window views, because he picked some good ones.

The only window I’m a little skeptical on (but promised Keith that I’d wait to see how it turns out) is the master bathroom window. It’s massive. It’s the space where the toilet occupies, so if you’re sitting down, the window is to your back. I don’t think this is any stranger than if you were to be facing it (though I suppose you’d have a nice view). I’m preemptively looking into how to install privacy decals.

My dad worked on installing French drains and backfilling this past week. I already covered French drains and backfill in my previous post, so I’ll just leave a little gallery here.

Once our walls are poured, we are good to set trusses and install windows. Both our truss company and window company have been absolutely amazing and have let us keep what we ordered at their respective warehouses, but we don’t want to overstay our welcome. We will be subcontracting out the truss placement with the guy who did our subfloors.
