Bussin’ is a slang term that kids these days use in place of “really good”. The fact that we have trusses is bussin’…or something.

We poured our exterior walls about three weeks ago. It’s been a cleanup game ever since — fixing the road (the heavy concrete trucks dug some deep ruts – to be expected), removing bracing, removing reinforcements, cleaning up the job site, etc.
This past weekend, Keith and I spent two days stringing up barbed wire to keep free range cattle out of my parents’ property (and ours). Date nights sure look different these days!

Our initial plan was to sand the subfloor. The seams absorbed moisture over the winter, causing them to be uneven. Our generator had other plans and decided to stop working. It’s currently sitting at a small engine repair shop awaiting ordered parts.
We purchased our framing package and our truss/framing/roof sheathing crew is out this week. They began today and were able to set all but six trusses.

The house has been in such a stagnant state in terms of appearance for so long. I’ve struggled to imagine a roofline in my mind’s eye — but now it’s come to life, which has been really helpful to see. It looks like a house – and it looks like the plans our architect drew up.
We can’t wait to see how it feels with a covered roof and our interior walls framed. These tangible steps forward have really helped our spirits and we’re hoping we continue to progress at a good pace.
