Man, does it feel good to see some physical progress. It’s amazing how much seeing our house take shape has improved our outlook and excitement.
Don’t get me wrong, we’re still being realistic — it seems pretty slim that we’ll be move in ready by October. Our lease is up in April, so that’s our hard done by date.

Seeing what our interior will look like has been fun — we were able to kind of envision it based on our floor plan drawings, but it’s so much different in real life. For example, I thought our master bedroom would be big and my pantry small. Nope. Our master is big enough for our bed, and my pantry is way bigger than I imagined. Our laundry room is small, but workable. The two smaller bedrooms are average sized. Our living space and kitchen — massive. We love it.
Our subcontractor is waiting to frame our front porch awning until our flatwork is done, which has taken precedence on our priority list. We have three areas that need concrete: the garage, the front porch and the back patio.

Keith rented a skid steer and spent most of this weekend moving pit run from our various piles to build up the pads. We had some help from our friend, Coty, with this which was extremely helpful.
We will be pouring the front and back pads ourselves. We will be hiring a subcontractor for the garage floor. We still need to build up material in the garage, which will take a few dump trucks full of pit run and road mix to accomplish.

Keith is heading back into his work week (he works a late swing shift, so he works from 5pm-4am and sleeps “late”) which is always a bit of a grind and hustle. His work days are generally sleep – work on house – work at real job – repeat. I hold down the fort at home with the feral toddler.
