About Us

We’re a family of three who dream of a space for our son to roam free, a pen full of chickens, a metal forge and a spacious kitchen for fermentation, canning and preserving a full garden.
In 2022, we decided to sell our suburban house in town and begin the (longer than anticipated) journey of building our own off-grid homestead in the Idaho boonies. After living with our new neighbors (a.k.a Lauren’s parents a.k.a our general contractor) for a period of six months, we moved into (what was supposed to be a) temporary rental apartment back in town.
Building our own house hasn’t been easy — it’s been full of trials, tribulations, and more setbacks than we can possibly count. Between terrible winter weather, bad contractors, running out of finances, and difficult schedules, we’ve continued to move forward — even if it’s at a slower pace than we’d like.
Nearly a year and a half later, we’re closer to our end goal and hope that 2024 is the year we can finish our home and move in.
